The relationship between spiritual seekers and spiritual
teachers in the West has been fraught with problems. When taken out
of context, certain Buddhist instructions seem to justify the
deification of the teacher to the point of encouraging a cult
mentality and whitewashing abuse. Typical Western responses to
spiritual teachers range from deification to deep mistrust bordering
upon demonization. Such attitudes prevent the benefits to be gained
from a healthy disciple-mentor relationship. This book explores the
sources of misunderstanding and reexamines the traditional Tibetan
Buddhist teachings to find methods for healing wounds. The advice
discovered may benefit a spiritual seeker-teacher relationship in
any tradition. "Alex Berzin has taken head-on one of the hottest
issues of Buddhism in the West-teacher-student and guru-disciple
relationship-and brought us all up to date through his wide and deep
research plus a great deal of personal thought on the matter. I
consider this a seminal work for spiritual practitioners and
teachers alike, and heartily recommend it to anyone interested in
the transmission of Dharma today. Review by Lama Surya

Relics associated
with 4
Arhats |
In Thailand, there were three brothers who were monks
and due to their good merits, they encountered Earth deities
who revealed to them the location of relics on a hill. Dug out
from the grounds, these relics are stone-like, round in shape
and white in color and said to be left behind by four Arhats
after they reached a level of enlightenment. A belief
regarding this relic is that it has the power to bestow
protection from malefic forces. An incident when a Thai prince
was presented this relic by a monk; it helped protect his life
from danger. The King of Thailand had soldiers dispatched to
the actual site to protect the relics from 'unauthorized'
excavation. These relics unearthed were distributed to various
monasteries and were used as means for fund raising for temple
building, temple projects, charities etc. Some of these relics
were also taken out of Thailand and presented as gifts in
diplomatic relations and some were distributed in overseas
among Buddhist 'sangha' circles. This relic can be worn on the
body, carried in an amulet bag, hung in the car, or placed on
the altar etc. It can be placed in a glass or cup and then
filled with water, along with the chanting of mantras, one
drinks the water to recover from malefic influences. One
senior citizen with psychic perception, noted that the relic
gave out a glowing blue light when she chanted mantras.
Another faithful Kuan Yin practitioner held several of the
relics in her cupped hands during meditation for its felt
effects. A shipyard worker miraculously survived a fall while
working and the relic which he wore, disappeared in that
incident. To procure them, it is US$108 (inc. registered air courier)
per relic. (10% sales proceeds of this item will

Feng
Shui Wealth Coins with
Bell |
Chinese coins are very potent symbol to attract
wealth luck. The I-Ching coins, when on their own are said to
double your income when placed in a proper location,
especially when tied with red thread. The Receiver of Good
Fortune is a 3 I-Ching coin set in shiny gold color and two
adorable bells to invite good fortune. The sparkling surface
of the coins is said to bring more general luck. The tinkling
bells are also of shiny gold color.
Both coins and bells are each tied with a mystic
endless knot. The I-Ching coins of abundance should be hung on
the inner doorknob of your main door. This is to safeguard the
existing money and wealth luck in your home or office. Hang
the bells on the doorknob on the outside of the main door to
receive endless opportunities.
I-Ching divination coins! These powerful tools are very
popular among I-Ching practitioners and Feng Shui masters.
Originating from the late Ching Dynasty, they come in a set of
six. The famous author of Feng Shui books, Lillian Too in her
book "Basic Feng Shui" recommends tying 3 Chinese coins
together and pasting them into your account books. She said
that this would double your annual returns. The coins can also
be used as a 'metal' remedy to counteract sha-chi generated by
'earth sha'. This is because earth chi is weakened by metal
chi. I-Ching coins are the most popular form of Metal remedy.
